Accuracy evaluation for coastline extraction from Pleiades imagery based on NDWI and IHS pan-sharpening application

Emanuele Alcaras et al.

Summary: Accurate coastline position is crucial for coastal zone monitoring and planning. Using high-resolution satellite imagery and the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), this study proposes a fast approach to evaluate the accuracy of extracted coastlines. The results confirm the effectiveness of NDWI in coastline extraction.

Integrated use of archival aerial photogrammetry, GNSS, and InSAR data for the monitoring of the Patigno landslide (Northern Apennines, Italy)

Nicola Cenni et al.

Summary: This study monitored the displacements of the Patigno landslide in the Northern Apennines using archival aerial photogrammetry, continuous GNSS observations, and multi-temporal InSAR data. By integrating data from different methodologies, including photogrammetry, GNSS, and InSAR, the kinematic motion of the landslides was accurately described, leading to more effective landslide risk mitigation strategies.

A Workflow Based on SNAP-StaMPS Open-Source Tools and GNSS Data for PSI-Based Ground Deformation Using Dual-Orbit Sentinel-1 Data: Accuracy Assessment with Error Propagation Analysis

Francesco Mancini et al.

Summary: This paper discusses a full interferometry processing chain based on dual-orbit Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B synthetic aperture radar data, providing vertical and East-West horizontal velocity maps over a specific study area. The combined SNAP-StaMPS workflow is shown to be a reliable tool for S1 data processing, allowing decomposed velocity maps to be obtained with high accuracy and low uncertainty levels. The study area's ground deformation phenomena are analyzed using slant-oriented and decomposed velocity maps, revealing insights into the sources of deformation.

Long-Term Subsidence Monitoring of the Alluvial Plain of the Scheldt River in Antwerp (Belgium) Using Radar Interferometry

Pierre-Yves Declercq et al.

Summary: The study in Belgium focuses on one of the biggest cities in the country, which has become the second largest European harbour with a slowed rate of land subsidence over the past few decades. The PSInSAR technique is used to detect and interpret ground movements in areas along the Scheldt river and harbour facilities.

Monitoring of Land Subsidence in the Po River Delta (Northern Italy) Using Geodetic Networks

Nicola Cenni et al.

Summary: Analysis of geodetic data from the Po River Delta over the past decade reveals that land subsidence in the area is mainly a result of the compaction of organic-rich clay and fresh-water peat layers. The eastern part of the region experiences higher subsidence rates compared to the western part, with values exceeding -10 mm/year in some areas.
