Full-Atomistic Optimized Potentials for Liquid Simulations and Polymer Consistent Force Field Models for Biocompatible Shape-Memory Poly(?-caprolactone)

Irena Yungerman et al.

Summary: Thermally induced shape memory poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL)-based polymers are extensively researched biocompatible materials with high applicability in biomedical engineering. This study used molecular dynamics simulations and experimental data to verify the accuracy of the OPLS and PCFF force fields in predicting the properties of PCL-based polymers. The findings support the development of PCL cross-linked polymer models and the investigation of synthetic polymers' interactions with biomolecules using OPLS.

Actuation Mechanisms of a Semicrystalline Elastomer-Based Polymer Artificial Muscle with High Actuation Strain

Jin Wang et al.

Summary: This study reports a sePAMs with high actuation strain and provides an in-depth analysis of its mechanisms. Both entropy-elastic actuation and crystallization-induced elongation/melting-induced contraction play important roles in controlling the actuation behavior. The oriented crystallization causes an increase in entropy of the amorphous section, resulting in further elongation of the network.

Ultra-Stretchable, Variable Modulus, Shape Memory Multi-Purpose Low Hysteresis Hydrogel Derived from Solvent-Induced Dynamic Micelle Sea-Island Structure

Yanyan Li et al.

Summary: A novel type of hydrogel with unique properties such as ultra-stretchability, variable modulus, toughness, low hysteresis, transparency, and shape memory was prepared through copolymerization of acrylamide and acryloyl Pluronic 127. The new strategy of using solvent-induced crystallization and matrix volume phase transition to achieve variable modulus and shape memory is a purely physical process that can be performed cyclically. This design highlights the important role of PF127-DA micelles in optimizing mechanical properties and intelligence for various applications such as stress sensors, damping pads, and mechanical bearing.
