Rational design of ZnMn2O4 nanoparticles on carbon nanotubes for high-rate and durable aqueous zinc-ion batteries

Fei Gao et al.

Summary: A one-step hydrothermal method is used to synthesize ZnMn2O4 (ZMO) nanoparticles/carbon nanotubes (ZMO/CNTs) composite for stable high-rate zinc-ion storage. The high electrical conductive CNTs and small ZMO particles enhance the electrical conductivity of the composite, and the flexible CNTs network and strong interface interaction suppress structural degradation. The ZMO/CNTs composite exhibits high rate capability and long-term cycling stability.

Effect of Al2O3 on Nanostructure and Ion Transport Properties of PVA/PEG/SSA Polymer Electrolyte Membrane

Hamdy F. M. Mohamed et al.

Summary: Polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells have the potential to reduce energy consumption, pollutant emissions, and dependence on fossil fuels. This study synthesized cross-linked poly(vinyl) alcohol (PVA)/poly(ethylene) glycol (PEG) membranes with varying alumina (Al2O3) content and characterized them using various techniques. The results showed that the 0.7 wt.% Al2O3 membranes exhibited the lowest crystallinity and the highest proton conductivity, making them suitable as PEMs with high proton conductivity for fuel cell applications.

Rheological and foaming behaviors of long-chain branched polyamide 6 with controlled branch length

Menglong Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of long-chain branched polyamide 6 samples (LCB PA6s) with well-defined branch length were successfully fabricated via reactive extrusion using various linear PA6s as reactive materials. The GPC-rheology method was used to demonstrate the existence of LCB topological structure and quantitatively determine the relative branch length for three LCB PA6s. Rheological characterization showed that increasing branch length resulted in enhanced elastic response and melt strength of PA6s. Additionally, the melt foamability of these LCB PA6s was verified through batch foaming experiments with supercritical CO2 as the blowing agent, showing potential for large-scale production via continuous extrusion foaming process.

Study of the nanostructure of free volume and ionic conductivity of polyvinyl alcohol doped withNaI

M. F. M. Hmamm et al.

Summary: The addition of NaI to PVA decreases the crystallinity of the sample, increases the free volume size, and acts as an inhibitor of positronium formation. The ionic conductivity of the sample is correlated with free volume size, and the AC conductivity indicates the presence of a hopping mechanism in ionic conductivity. Impedance spectroscopy shows that the bulk influence of PVA with different concentrations of NaI and the semi-circle radius decreases with the increase of NaI concentration, leading to an increase in PVA conductivity.
