Modulation of Cell-Cycle Progression by Hydrogen Peroxide-Mediated Cross-Linking and Degradation of Cell-Adhesive Hydrogels

Wildan Mubarok et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the possibility of controlling cell-cycle progression by varying the exposure time to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the air, which affects the stiffness of gelatin/hyaluronic acid composite hydrogels. Human cervical cancer cells and mouse mammary gland epithelial cells showed different cell-cycle progressions on hydrogels of varying stiffness, and the low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid resulting from H2O2 degradation also influenced cell-cycle progression in the mammary gland epithelial cells.

Tuning Myogenesis by Controlling Gelatin Hydrogel Properties through Hydrogen Peroxide-Mediated Cross-Linking and Degradation

Wildan Mubarok et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of physicochemical properties on myogenesis in vitro by tuning the exposure time of Gelatin-Ph hydrogel to air containing H2O2. The results show that the stiffness of the hydrogel and degradation rate can be controlled by adjusting the exposure time, which influences the adhesion and myotube formation of myoblasts.

Hyaluronan (HA) Immobilized on Surfaces via Self-Assembled Monolayers of HA-Binding Peptide Modulates Endothelial Cell Spreading and Migration through Focal Adhesion

Xinqing Pang et al.

Summary: The extracellular matrix component hyaluronic acid plays a crucial role in regulating endothelial cell behavior. Immobilized HA enhances cell spreading and migration, facilitates cell alignment and elongation under laminar flow conditions, potentially drives directional migration, and accelerates the assembly of focal adhesions. Studying the effects of immobilized HA provides new insights into its role in regulating the behavior of endothelial cells.

Imaging the construction of capillary networks in the neonatal mouse brain

Vanessa Coelho-Santos et al.

Summary: The study reveals that brain capillary networks originate exclusively from cortical ascending venules, with early, long-range sprouts connecting venules to upstream arteriolar input, establishing the backbone of the capillary bed, and short-range sprouts contributing to expansion of anastomotic connectivity within the capillary bed.

Influence of Hydrogen Peroxide-Mediated Cross-Linking and Degradation on Cell-Adhesive Gelatin Hydrogels

Wildan Mubarok et al.

Summary: When preparing Gelatin-Ph hydrogels through HRP/H2O2-mediated gelation, it is important to consider the degradation of Gelatin-Ph caused by H2O2 on the mechanical properties of the resultant hydrogels and the behaviors of cells on them.
