4D Printing-Encapsulated Polycaprolactone-Thermoplastic Polyurethane with High Shape Memory Performances

Davood Rahmatabadi et al.

Summary: In this study, bilayer-encapsulated polycaprolactone-thermoplastic polyurethane shape memory composite structures were successfully 4D printed with improved shape memory effect compared to previous SMP structures. The encapsulation solved the bonding/interface challenge between printed layers and resulted in higher performance. The maximum stress recovery in 4D-printed composites remained constant over time, indicating enhanced durability compared to extrusion-based SMP structures.
