Summary: This study examined the social norms and actual behavior of alcohol consumption in front of children among Australian parents. Thoughts and beliefs about nonsuicidal self-injury: An application of social cognitive theory

Jessica C. Dawkins et al.

Summary: The study showed that the relationship between expecting self-injury to cause physical pain or emotion regulation and engaging in self-injury is moderated by self-efficacy. Individuals who have never engaged in self-injury are more likely to believe that self-injury would cause physical pain, but also believe they have the ability to resist self-injury, which could be helpful for prevention and intervention efforts.
