Paravalvular regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve replacement in intermediate-risk patients: a pooled PARTNER 2 study

Katherine H. Chau et al.

Summary: Moderate or worse paravalvular regurgitation (PVR) is associated with increased risk of all-cause and cardiovascular death, rehospitalisation, and reintervention at two years. Mild PVR is not associated with worse outcomes. Moderate or worse PVR is also associated with adverse left ventricular remodeling.

Patient-specific computer simulation to predict long-term outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement

Cameron Dowling et al.

Summary: A study found that patient-specific computer simulation can identify patients at risk for long-term adverse outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). In this study, patients predicted to have significant paravalvular regurgitation (PVR) through computer simulation had a higher rate of death within 2 years.

Valve Academic Research Consortium 3: Updated Endpoint Definitions for Aortic Valve Clinical Research

Philippe Genereux et al.

Summary: The Valve Academic Research Consortium (VARC) was established in 2010 to standardize clinical endpoint definitions for aortic valve clinical trials. After several years, a meeting was held involving experts to evaluate and revise specific clinical endpoint definitions, leading to the proposal of new classifications and modifications. These updates will ensure accurate reporting and comparisons in clinical research studies involving aortic valve therapies.
