Helena Van Deynse et al.

Summary: The study provides a population-based overview of TBI hospital admissions in Belgium, with falls as the predominant cause of injury and diffuse intracranial injury being the most common type of TBI. In-hospital mortality was 6%, with a median length of hospital stay of 2 days, and around 1/5 admitted to intensive care and 1/4 undergoing surgery. Post-hospitalization, 23% received inpatient rehabilitation, and a majority of patients returned to work within 1 year post-injury.
