AGREE II appraisals of clinical practice guidelines in rehabilitation showed poor reporting and moderate variability in quality ratings when users apply different cuff-offs: a methodological study

Silvia Bargeri et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the reporting characteristics of AGREE II appraisals in rehabilitation and found that applying different cut-offs for quality ratings of CPGs may lead to significant variability in ratings. The application of the most frequent cut-offs resulted in a notable proportion of CPGs shifting their ratings from low to high quality, highlighting the importance of selecting the highest quality CPGs in rehabilitation practice.

Clinical predictors for deep vein thrombosis on admission in patients with intertrochanteric fractures: a retrospective study

Jixing Fan et al.

Summary: The study found a high prevalence of pre-admission DVT in elderly Chinese patients with intertrochanteric fractures, with risk factors including longer time from injury to admission, high energy trauma, COPD, lower Hb levels, diabetes, and A3 type intertrochanteric fractures. Surgeons should be aware of these risk factors to prevent intraoperative and postoperative complications such as pulmonary embolism.

Thromboprophylaxis and Bleeding Complications in Orthopedic and Trauma Patients: A Systematic Review

Joseph V. Villarreal et al.

Summary: This systematic review evaluates the effects of chemoprophylactic modalities in orthopedic and trauma patients, suggesting that Factor Xa inhibitors and direct oral anticoagulants may be safer and more effective than low molecular weight heparin. Thromboprophylaxis had minimal impact on major bleeding incidence.
