Magnetic, magnetoresistive and low-frequency noise properties of tunnel magnetoresistance sensor devices with amorphous CoFeBTa soft magnetic layers

Mahmoud Rasly et al.

Summary: In this study, amorphous CoFeBTa (CFBT) was investigated as a soft magnetic layer for the free layer (FL) of magnetic tunnel junctions, leading to linear resistance-magnetic field (R-H) response curves with low hysteresis. The highest TMR ratio and sensitivity were achieved with a specific CFBT/Ta/CoFeB FL composition. The devices showed superior detectivity (D) for magnetic field sensing compared to previously reported TMR sensors with NiFe soft magnetic layers.

Highly-sensitive magnetic sensor for detecting magnetic nanoparticles based on magnetic tunnel junctions at a low static field

Z. Jin et al.

Summary: The magnetic sensor with MTJ structure and synthetic antiferromagnetic free layer demonstrates high sensitivity at low magnetic fields. It can detect superparamagnetic MNPs with a diameter of 200 nm and shows high sensitivity to changes in MNP concentrations, capable of detecting MNP amounts below 500 ng and concentrations of 0.01, 0.1, 1 mg/ml in solvents. The combination of high-sensitivity TMR sensors and large MNPs has significant potential for biomarker detection applications.
