The in vitro and in vivo experiments revealed the potential mechanism, highlighting the promising prospect of this strategy in chemoimmunotherapy.

Organo-macrocycle-containing hierarchical metal-organic frameworks and cages: design, structures, and applications

Summary: Developing hierarchical ordered systems using organo-macrocycles as building blocks is an efficient method to obtain metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and porous coordination cages (PCCs). These macrocycles, such as crown ethers, cyclodextrins, calixarenes, cucurbiturils, and pillararenes, not only enhance the properties and functionalities of the composites but also have a wide range of applications. This review summarizes the recent developments of organo-macrocycle-containing hierarchical MOFs/PCCs, focusing on the structure-property relationships and applications of these hierarchically porous materials. It provides insights for future research on hierarchical self-assembly and extends the applications of the composites.

The ruthenium (II)-coordinated supramolecular metallodrug complex (RuSMDC) is designed to produce oxygen by catalyzing the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, leading to improved therapeutic effects of chemotherapy and photodynamic therapy oncotherapy in anaerobic tumor environments. Further studies confirm that Ru-containing supramolecular metallodrug micelles effectively alleviate the tumor hypoxic environment and reduce systemic toxicity.
