Groundwater quality evaluation for domestic and irrigation purposes for the Nwanedi Agricultural Community, Limpopo Province, South Africa

Mulaudzi Mukonazwothe et al.

Summary: This study investigated the suitability of groundwater for domestic and agricultural uses in Nwanedi agricultural community. The results showed that the water quality is suitable for consumption and irrigation, with occasional excessive levels of nitrates. Factor analysis demonstrated the suitability of water quality parameters. Natural and anthropogenic processes influence the hydro-chemical composition. Future comparative studies on the influence of climate conditions are recommended.

Computationally efficient forecasting procedures for Kuhn-Tucker consumer demand model systems: Application to residential energy consumption analysis

Abdul Rawoof Pinjari et al.

Summary: This paper proposes simple and computationally efficient forecasting algorithms for MDC choice models, such as the MDCEV model. The algorithms are applied to analyze residential energy consumption patterns in the United States and simulation experiments are conducted to assess their computational performance.

Models for forecasting water demand using time series analysis: a case study in Southern Brazil

Danielle C. M. Ristow et al.

Summary: Technology has played an increasingly important role in water resource management, with demand-forecasting models providing information for utility companies. This study developed models for monthly urban water demand forecasts by analyzing time series, with the seasonal ARIMA method proving to be effective in predicting water consumption.

Water access in global South cities: The challenges of intermittency and affordability

Victoria A. Beard et al.

Summary: The article examines the challenges of water access in cities in the global South, focusing on intermittent services and affordability. The study reveals that households connected to municipal piped systems in most cities experience intermittent water supply, while informal settlements face even greater instability in water access. This highlights the urgent need for cities and water utilities to collaborate in extending public piped networks and ensuring affordable water supply.

Sensitivity of Water Price Elasticity Estimates to Different Data Aggregation Levels

Yarela Flores Arevalo et al.

Summary: This study examines the data aggregation methods in the empirical literature on residential water demand, showing that water price elasticities depend on the level of data aggregation and sample size. Additionally, significant differences in water price elasticities are found when comparing a large semi-aggregated sample with a small disaggregated sample.
