Magnetic-MXene-based nanocomposites for water and wastewater treatment: A review

Akbar Hojjati-Najafabadi et al.

Summary: The increase in pollutants released into water resources, such as hazardous refractory contaminations, organic dyes, pharmaceutical and pesticide contaminants, due to population growth and global industrialization, has become a major health issue worldwide. Magnetic MXene nanocomposites, which possess unique properties, easy production, low-cost preparation, and excellent pollutant degradation abilities, show great promise for various applications including biosensors, cancer theragnostic, imaging strategies, and particularly water treatment. This paper provides a review of the use of magnetic-MXene nanocomposites for removing contaminants from aqueous environments, discussing the concept of magnetic nanomaterials in water treatment, MXene applications and implications for water and wastewater pollutant degradation, and the role of magnetic-MXene nanocomposites in water treatment. Future trends in MXene and magnetic-MXene nanomaterials for water treatment and environmental applications are also discussed.

Recent progress on adsorption of cadmium ions from water systems using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as an efficient class of porous materials

Mojtaba Mansoorianfar et al.

Summary: This review presents the latest suggested adsorption mechanisms, kinetics, and isotherms of MOFs-based materials for removing cadmium ions, comparing different MOFs and their mechanisms of cadmium ion removal. The future role of MOFs in removing environmental contaminants is discussed, along with the research gap and limitations of MOFs as adsorbents in actual applications.

A Meta-Analysis of 67 Studies with Presenting Symptoms and Laboratory Tests of COVID-19 Patients

Manish Mair et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the prevalence of symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging in COVID-19 infected patients, revealing fever and cough as the most common symptoms, while anosmia and dysguesia are also relatively common. Common abnormalities in laboratory tests include elevated CRP and ESR, as well as decreased white blood cells and lymphocytes.

A novel quality by design approach for development and validation of a green reversed-phase HPLC method with fluorescence detection for the simultaneous determination of lesinurad, febuxostat, and diflunisal: Application to human plasma

Galal Magdy et al.

Summary: A novel eco-friendly reversed-phase HPLC method with fluorescence detection was developed for simultaneous estimation of two co-administered antigout drugs and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. The method was optimized using analytical quality by design approach and showed excellent separation efficiency and high bioanalytical applicability. Additionally, it was found to be environmentally friendly according to Green Analytical Procedure Index and analytical Eco-Scale guidelines.

Complementary green analytical procedure index (ComplexGAPI) and software

Justyna Plotka-Wasylka et al.

Summary: The study proposed a new metric based on GAC attributes for evaluating the green nature of analytical procedures. This metric expands on the green analytical procedure index by adding additional fields related to processes performed before the analytical procedure, and was used to evaluate analytical protocols for determining pesticides in urine samples. It is expected to gain attention and acceptance from the chemical community.
