Discrimination of vascular aging using the arterial pulse spectrum and machine-learning analysis

Hsin Hsiu et al.

Summary: Aging contributes to vascular dysfunction and is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. This study used arterial pulse-wave measurements, frequency-domain pulse analysis, and machine-learning analysis to distinguish vascular aging, showing significant differences in subjects aged 40-50 years. Classification accuracy was over 80% and AUC was over 0.8, indicating excellent discrimination ability.

Discrimination of the Cognitive Function of Community Subjects Using the Arterial Pulse Spectrum and Machine-Learning Analysis

Hsin Hsiu et al.

Summary: This study used machine-learning analysis to differentiate different cognitive conditions in community subjects by analyzing the spectral indices of the arterial pulse waveform. Significant differences were found in the spectral pulse indices between Alzheimer's disease patients and control subjects. The prediction probability of the test data showed a significant correlation with the Mini-Mental-State-Examination score, indicating a physiological connection between arterial pulse transmission and cognitive function. The findings suggest that pulse-wave and machine-learning analyses can be useful for the early screening of dementia.

Relationship Between Sarcopenia and Cardiovascular Diseases in the Elderly: An Overview

Nana He et al.

Summary: With the global aging population, aging-related diseases have become a challenge for governments across the world. Sarcopenia, defined as age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass, strength, function, and physical performance, is common in elderly patients with chronic diseases and may play a crucial role in the pathophysiology and progression of cardiovascular diseases. Further research is needed to better understand the relationship, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic criteria, and mechanisms of sarcopenia and cardiovascular diseases in the elderly, which could lead to potential interventions for improved clinical outcomes.

Summary: This study used arterial pulse-wave measurements and MLP analysis to effectively distinguish between AD patients and control subjects. The results showed significant differences in BPW indices between AD patients and control subjects, as well as significant intergroup differences among mild, moderate, and severe AD.
