Early Astigmatism Can Alter Myopia Development in Chickens

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the effects of optically imposed astigmatism on myopia development in chickens. Results showed that astigmatic blur significantly impacted the refractive parameters of the eyes, leading to myopic-astigmatic errors. Different types of astigmatism (against-the-rule and with-the-rule) had varying effects on changes in the anterior and posterior segments of the eyes.
