NiCo/ZnO/g-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction nanoparticles with enhanced photocatalytic degradation oxytetracycline

Jiao Wu et al.

Summary: The Nickel-cobalt alloys/zinc oxide/graphitic carbon nitride (NiCo/ZnO/g-C3N4, NCZg) nanocomposites were successfully synthesized and their morphologies, chemical compositions, and optical properties were characterized. The NCZg nanocomposites showed high visible light photocatalytic degradation activity, with photocatalytic degradation rates of oxytetracycline (OTC) and tetracycline (TC) reaching 71.3% and 81.29% in 50 minutes, respectively. The study suggests that photogenerated holes (h(+)) are the main reason for the photocatalytic degradation, and provides a new idea for the construction of high-performance photocatalysts for the degradation of OTC.

Jundie Hu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a well-ordered highly-crystalline g-C3N4 nanoarray with a conjugated electron donor-acceptor structure (PDI/CNA) to improve H2O2 production efficiency. Experimental and DFT investigations show that eliminating deep defect trapping sites can enhance charge utilization and reduce the Gibbs free energy of the rate-determining step. The optimized PDI/CNA demonstrates superior H2O2 production rate and high apparent quantum yield.

CuO/g-C3N4 2D/2D heterojunction photocatalysts as efficient peroxymonosulfate activators under visible light for oxytetracycline degradation: Characterization, efficiency and mechanism

Min Wang et al.

Summary: In this work, a CuO/g-C3N4 2D/2D heterojunction photocatalyst was designed to degrade oxytetracycline (OTC) by activating peroxymonosulfate (PMS) under visible light irradiation. The catalyst showed almost 100% degradation efficiency towards OTC in 10 minutes, and also effectively degraded other antibiotics. Through investigation of experimental conditions, stability evaluation, and analysis of reactive oxygen species, the mechanism and pathway of OTC degradation were explored in depth. This work provides valuable insights for developing efficient g-C3N4-based photocatalytic technology for antibiotic removal from the environment.

Achieving ultrahigh electrocatalytic NH3 yield rate on Fe-doped Bi2WO6 electrocatalyst

Yongqin Liu et al.

Summary: NH3, derived from electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR), shows potential as a carbon-free liquid energy carrier and for food production. This work achieved an ultrahigh electrocatalytic NH3 yield rate on the Fe-0.50-Bi2WO6 catalyst, surpassing other Fe- and Bi-based catalysts and even a single atom Ru catalyst. The key to the outstanding NRR behaviors lies in the significant HER suppression and the synergy between Bi and Fe.

A direct Z-scheme heterojunction with boosted transportation of photogenerated charge carriers for highly efficient photodegradation of PFOA: Reaction kinetics and mechanism

Haodong Tang et al.

Summary: The Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst of core-shell CeO2@NiAl-LDHs shows high efficiency in removing PFOA, with a photodegradation performance of 90.2% and 36.1 mg g(-1) h(-1). Factors affecting the photodegradation process were explored, and the presence of a built-in electric field (BIEF) in the heterojunction was confirmed to promote photogenerated carriers and enhance photocatalytic performance. The efficient degradation of PFOA is attributed to the synergistic effects of reduction and defluorination by electrons, as well as oxidation by active free radicals.

Preparation of ternary reduced graphene oxide/BiOBr/TiO2 nanotube arrays for photoelectrocatalytic degradation of p-chloronitrobenzene under visible light irradiation

Bingrui Ma et al.

Summary: The fast recombination of photogenerated charges, low utilization of visible light, and difficult recyclability of photocatalysts have limited the practical application of photocatalysis technology. The ternary reduced graphene oxide/BiOBr/TiO2 nanotube arrays photoelectrodes exhibited higher visible-light absorption property and lower charges recombination, leading to a significantly higher p-CNB degradation rate compared to bare TNAs. The GB/TNAs also effectively solved the recovery of powdered catalysts and demonstrated excellent PEC stability for p-CNB degradation.
