Visible Particle Series Search Algorithm and Its Application in Structural Damage Identification

Pooya Mohebian et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new optimization algorithm called visible particle series search (VPSS) for identifying structural damage. By mapping candidate solutions into a visibility graph network, the algorithm utilizes information from visible particles to search for the optimum solution. Numerical simulations demonstrate the high accuracy, reliability, and computational efficiency of the VPSS algorithm in identifying the location and extent of structural damage.

Structural Optimization of a Muffler for a Marine Pumping System Based on Numerical Calculation

Houlin Liu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an optimization design method for a muffler structure in order to eliminate noise in the pumping system and prolong the equipment's service life. By designing a water guide cone inside the muffler and adopting a porous structure for the muffler shell, water guide cone wall surface, and circular bottom plate, the best sound suppression effect of the muffler structure is achieved. The effects of different channel expansion angles and flow areas on the muffler's performance are also studied, and the results show that a flow channel expansion angle of 145 degrees and a flow area ratio of 3 times provide the best noise elimination performance for the muffler. The structural optimization of the muffler studied in this paper is of great significance for noise reduction in the pumping system.

A Deep Learning-Based Approach for the Identification of a Multi-Parameter BWBN Model

Zele Li et al.

Summary: A restoring-force model is a versatile mathematical model that can describe the relationship between the restoring force and the deformation. This paper proposes a deep neural network model to estimate the hysteresis parameters of the Bouc-Wen-Baber-Noori (BWBN) model and overcomes the difficulty in parameter identification. The proposed approach provides an effective and promising method for multi-parameter hysteresis model identification.

The Damage Identification in Laminated Composite Plate under Fatigue Load through Wavelet Packet Energy Curvature Difference Method

Wael A. Altabey

Summary: In this study, a damage identification framework for Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) composite plate systems is proposed using the wavelet packet energy curvature difference (WPECD) method. By combining finite element modeling and accumulative damage modeling, the proposed method can effectively identify different types of damage.
