Defects investigation of bipolar exfoliated phosphorene nanosheets

Amin Rabiei Baboukani et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the defects and amorphization phenomenon in exfoliated phosphorene nanosheets through HRTEM imaging and density functional theory calculations. The results show the presence of single vacancies, di-vacancies, ad-atoms, and grain boundary defects in the phosphorene nanosheets, and amorphization occurs in the presence of oxygen. This study is of great importance for both fundamental research and technological applications.

Hundred-gram scale fabrication of few-layered silicene by a continuous vapor-dealloying strategy for high-performance lithium storage

Xiaowei Wang et al.

Summary: A continuous vapor de-alloying strategy was developed for the fabrication of silicene on a hundred-gram scale using waste polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to etch CaSi2. The obtained few-layered silicene can be easily assembled with carbon nanotubes to form flexible electrodes for lithium storage, exhibiting excellent performance and stability. This strategy can be extended to other silicon analogs with different structures by selecting precursors such as Mg2Si and Al/Si alloy.

Electrical transport through pelletized tablet of silicene-like quasi 2D crystalline silicon

Debosmita Karar et al.

Summary: Silicene, a silicon-based 2D material similar to graphene, has been experimentally prepared with some of the theoretically predicted features confirmed, such as non-linear current-voltage characteristics and negative differential resistance. The study provides insights into the transport properties of bulk pellets of silicene and suggests potential applications.
