Efficient photocatalytic oxidation of VOCs using ZnO@Au nanoparticles

Roberto Fiorenza et al.

Summary: The photocatalytic performance of ZnO@Au nanostructures for the removal of toxic VOCs, such as toluene, ethanol, and formaldehyde, under solar light irradiation is reported. The ZnO@Au exhibited excellent activity and stability, with high selectivity towards CO2 formation. The efficient electronic communication between the gold core and the zinc oxide shell contributes to the overall photodetection and charge carrier separation.

Nanostructured polyaniline SPME fiber coating for chemical warfare agents analysis

Daniel Dziedzic et al.

Summary: Nanostructured polyaniline (PANI) fibers were obtained electrochemically and used as a coating for solid-phase microextraction (SPME) in the analysis of organoarsenic and organophosphorus compounds in soil samples. The PANI fiber showed superior sorption efficiency compared to commercially available fibers, and its sorption efficiency increased with the expansion in the number of phenyl rings in the molecule. The method exhibited a wide linear range and low detection limits for the tested compounds when coupled with gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

Adsorption of anionic acid red G dye on polyaniline nanofibers synthesized by FeCl3 oxidant: Unravelling the role of synthetic conditions

Wei Lyu et al.

Summary: Polyaniline (PANI) is an efficient adsorbent for dye removal from wastewater. The adsorption performance and yield of PANI can be controlled by adjusting the synthetic conditions. Under low temperature and high FeCl3 concentration, highly crystallized PANI nanofibers with high adsorption capacity can be obtained. An optimal synthetic condition for PANI is determined at a temperature of 20°C and a molar ratio of aniline to FeCl3 of 1:4 when using FeCl3 as the oxidant.

HCN production from formaldehyde during the selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH3 over V2O5/WO3-TiO2

Martin Elsener et al.

Summary: Research has shown that formaldehyde in exhaust gases can react with NH3 to produce HCN, leading to a parasitic consumption of NH3 and a decrease in NOx conversion rate by up to 15%. Additionally, the non-reducible TiO2 support also produces moderate levels of HCN, indicating that redox sites enhance the reaction.
