Synthesis and Characterization of New Conjugated Azomethines End-Capped with Amino-thiophene-3,4-dicarboxylic Acid Diethyl Ester

Summary: A series of thiophene-based azomethines with different core structures were synthesized and their thermal, optical, and electrochemical properties were investigated. The synthesized compounds showed the ability to form stable amorphous phases with high glass transition temperatures. They exhibited electrochemical activity and had a low energy band gap. Optical investigations revealed their absorption and weak emission properties. The synthesized compounds were also examined as hole transporting materials in hybrid solar cells.

Summary: Six 4,6-di(pentacenothiophene-2-yl)pyrimidine molecules with excellent charge transport properties were designed in this study. Advanced computational methods were used to measure absorption spectra and electronic structure parameters. The results suggest that the newly designed compounds may be more suitable for use as semiconductor materials.

Push-pull effect on the charge transport characteristics in V-shaped organic semiconductor materials

Summary: Novel V-shaped organic semiconductor compounds were designed with the goal of tuning charge transport and electronic properties through nitrogen doping, oligocenes pi-bridge incorporations, and push-pull strategy. Density functional theory and time-dependent DFT were used for optimizing structures, and the push-pull strategy significantly increased electron affinity while decreasing ionization energies. The newly designed materials may be proficient for use in n-type semiconductor devices.
