Effects of doping by copper on electrical properties of LaCrO3 based perovskite

R. Jemai et al.

Summary: The use of nickel-yttria-stabilized zirconia (Ni/YSZ) as anode material for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) applications presents limitations, and this study aims to improve the conductivity of lanthanum chromite (LaCrO3) by copper doping. The results show that the substitution of chrome with copper slightly increases the lattice parameter while reducing the band gap energy and increasing crystallite size. The electrical measurements indicate an improved conductivity with copper content, transitioning from a semiconductor to a metallic behavior.

Co-free triple perovskite La1.5Ba1.5Cu3O7±δ as a promising air electrode material for solid oxide fuel cells

Keyun Li et al.

Summary: The LBCu complex oxide is evaluated as a Co-free candidate air electrode material for reversible Solid Oxide Cells (rSOC). It is structurally and thermomechanically compatible with the LSGM electrolyte and maintains a layered perovskite crystal structure at high temperatures. LBCu exhibits moderate thermal expansion and its electrical conductivity correlates with the oxygen content. Functional LBCu air electrodes can be manufactured at relatively low temperatures and exhibit low polarization resistance values.
