Synthesis of sodium polyacrylate copolymers as water-based dispersants for wet ultrafine grinding of cobalt aluminate particles

Yuqi Liu et al.

Summary: In the ultrafine grinding process, adding dispersant PMASH(1) can improve the fineness and particle size distribution of the product, possibly due to the presence of solvated chains of dispersant PMASH(1) on the particle surface generating proper steric hindrance energy between the particles. Furthermore, the breakage behavior of cobalt aluminate (CoAl2O4) particles in ultrafine grinding was discussed using selection and breakage functions from population balance modeling, indicating that the addition of dispersant PMASH(1) leads to greater grinding efficiency.
