A National Study of Surgically Managed Atypical Pulmonary Carcinoid Tumors

Samantha L. Walters et al.

Summary: This study analyzed patients diagnosed with atypical or typical pulmonary carcinoid tumors between 2010 and 2015, finding that patients with atypical carcinoids were older, had larger tumors, and presented with later stage disease. The 5-year survival rate for atypical carcinoid patients was lower compared to typical carcinoid patients, and a higher proportion of atypical patients had lymph node metastases.
