Root endophytic fungus Piriformospora indica and zinc attenuate cold stress in grapevine by influencing leaf phytochemicals and minerals content

Rouhollah Karimi et al.

Summary: Inoculation with Piriformospora indica (Pi) and application of zinc (Zn) in soil showed positive effects in mitigating cold stress in grapevine plants, resulting in increased stability of photosynthetic pigments, antioxidant enzyme activity, and regulation of plant growth hormones. It allows chilled vines to absorb higher nutrients during normal temperatures, enabling them to attenuate cold stress through increase in osmoregulants, antioxidant enzymes activity, and plant growth regulators.

Endophytic Fungi Accelerate Leaf Physiological Activity and Resveratrol Accumulation in Polygonum cuspidatum by Up-Regulating Expression of Associated Genes

Rui-Ting Sun et al.

Summary: Inoculation with root endophytic fungi, especially Piriformospora indica, significantly promoted biomass production, physiological activities, and medicinal ingredient accumulation in Polygonum cuspidatum. The application of endophytic fungi increased resveratrol and polydatin concentrations, while affecting other compound concentrations in a complex manner.

Piriformospora indica affect drought tolerance by regulation of genes expression and some morphophysiological parameters in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)

Maryam Azizi et al.

Summary: The present study demonstrates that the endophytic fungus Piriformospora indica can enhance the tolerance of tomato plants to drought stress by improving plant growth and morpho-physiological parameters. The sensitive cultivar exhibited poorer performance under drought conditions, while the tolerant cultivar showed better growth. Colonization by the fungus increased the measured factors in both tomato cultivars, and gene expression analysis revealed a synergistic effect of the fungus and drought treatments on certain genes.
