Potential of Natural Fibers in Composites for Ballistic Applications - A Review

Suhas Yeshwant Nayak et al.

Summary: This paper presents a review of natural fiber composites used in ballistic applications. The review assesses two categories of composites, natural fibers and hybrid composites, and compares them with synthetic fibers. The results show that hybrid composites exhibit superior properties compared to plain natural fiber composites. Natural fibers offer an ecological and economical alternative with promising future scope in ballistic applications.

Effect of altitude on the mechanical strength of Grewia optiva fiber in Garhwal Himalaya, India

Kiran K. Murasing et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of altitude on the physical properties of Grewia optiva fiber, showing that mechanical strength of the fiber is greatest at higher altitudes. Fiber denier, breaking strength, and elongation at break are highest at higher altitudes, lowest at lower altitudes, while tenacity is highest at middle altitudes.

Extraction and Characterization of Natural Fiber from Stem of Cardiospermum Halicababum

A. Vinod et al.

Summary: This study investigates the properties of lignocellulose fiber from the stem of Cardiospermum Halicababum. Analysis revealed that CHF contains high levels of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, with a substantial crystallinity index and thermal stability. CHF demonstrates a high tensile strength and morphology characteristics indicating minimal lacuna space between cell walls.
