Nipah Virus-Another Threat From the World of Zoonotic Viruses

Summary: Among diseases, viral diseases pose a significant threat to public health. The Nipah virus (NiV), a highly lethal virus with zoonotic nature and potential human-to-human transmission, is recognized as a global health problem. NiV infection causes neurological symptoms and severe respiratory disorders. Bats of Pteropus species are considered the primary natural reservoir and vector. Transmission routes include consumption of contaminated food, contact with animals, and human-to-human contact. Currently, treatment options for NiV are limited to supportive and prophylactic measures.

Disentangling the Legal and Illegal Wildlife Trade-Insights from Indonesian Wildlife Market Surveys

This manuscript aims to discuss the NiV infection in India and provide recommendations to contain and mitigate its impact on affected populations.
