First isolation and pathogenicity analysis of a genogroup U strain of infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus from rainbow trout in China

Caiyun Huo et al.

Summary: IHNV is a major fish viral pathogen causing acute clinical disease and death in salmonids, classified into different genogroups. A strain of IHNV (BjLL) isolated from a farm in China was confirmed to belong to genogroup U, with lower virulence compared to genogroup J strains. This study provides essential information for future research on pathogenesis and control strategies of IHNV BjLL.

Long-term efficacy of nasal vaccination against enteric red mouth (ERM) disease and infectious hematopoietic necrosis (IHN) in juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Jie Ma et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and immune responses of two different vaccines at 6 and 12 months post-vaccination. The findings suggest that nasal vaccination with a live attenuated viral vaccine provides long-lasting protection, while nasal ERM vaccination does not. Booster vaccination before 6 months post-vaccination is recommended.

Progress Towards a Therapeutic HIV DNA Vaccine

Paul Munson

Summary: This review discusses the progress in developing therapeutic HIV DNA vaccines, focusing on delivery innovations to enhance vaccine immunogenicity. A central theme is the shift from needle injection delivery to using more sophisticated devices to target the skin and/or improve transfection efficiency.

Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) nucleoprotein amino acid residues affect viral virulence and immunogenicity in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Jiahui Li et al.

Summary: This study compared the N protein sequences of genotype J with other genotypes of IHNV and identified that amino acid residues at positions 85 and 102 affect the virulence and immunogenicity of IHNV. This provides a new direction for studying the virulence mechanism of rhabdoviruses and developing attenuated vaccines.

Potential application of antiviral coumarin in aquaculture against IHNV infection by reducing viral adhesion to the epithelial cell surface

Lei Liu et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the antiviral effects of C10 and S5 against IHNV in salmonids. Results showed that C10 and S5 inhibited IHNV replication and alleviated IHNV-induced cytopathic effects. C10 had potential as a broad-spectrum antiviral against fish rhabdoviruses.

Pandemic Preparedness Against Influenza: DNA Vaccine for Rapid Relief

Tor Kristian Andersen et al.

Summary: The 2009 swine flu pandemic exposed the limitations of egg-based vaccines in terms of global supply, prompting the urgent need for efficient new vaccine platforms; DNA vaccines have since been developed as a temperature stable, cost-effective option for pandemic responses, capable of inducing rapid protective immune responses without the need for adjuvants.

A Therapeutic Hepatitis B Virus DNA Vaccine Induces Specific Immune Responses in Mice and Non-Human Primates

Dorien De Pooter et al.

Summary: Despite the availability of a prophylactic vaccine for HBV for over 30 years, nearly 300 million people are still chronically infected worldwide. Chronic HBV patients exhibit weak CD8(+) T-cell responses, but a therapeutic DNA vaccine has shown to induce robust immune responses in both healthy and infected animal models.
