Management of non-functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors by endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation: Retrospective study in two tertiary centers

Mariola Marx et al.

Summary: This study examined the use of endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (EUS-RFA) for the management of small non-functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (nf pNETs). The results demonstrated that EUS-RFA showed promising treatment efficacy with a high rate of complete treatment response. Further research is needed to evaluate its long-term survival, safety profile, and recurrence.

EUS-guided radiofrequency ablation for pancreatic insulinoma: experience in 2 tertiary centers

Mariola Marx et al.

Summary: This article presents a preliminary clinical experience in treating pancreatic insulinomas <2 cm by EUS-RFA. The results show that EUS-RFA is feasible and effective in managing small neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas with an acceptable safety profile. However, further evidence is needed to assess long-term survival and recurrence.

Summary: This study evaluated the application and survival outcomes of EUS-RFA in patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer. The results showed that EUS-RFA is feasible and safe for the management of unresectable pancreatic cancer, and its combination with systemic chemotherapy may be associated with favorable survival outcomes.

Antibioprophylaxis in endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration in pancreatic cysts: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: The use of antibiotics for prophylaxis in pancreatic cystic lesions is still a debated topic. Current research lacks in quantity and has a small sample size, leading to biased results. Pooled data analysis shows that antibiotic prophylaxis does not have a significant impact on the rate of cyst infection. Larger international studies are needed to resolve this controversy.

Case Report: Insulinoma Co-Existing With Type 2 Diabetes - Advantages and Challenges of Treatment With Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Radiofrequency Ablation

Johnny Yau-Cheung Chang et al.

Summary: The coexistence of insulinoma and type 2 diabetes is rare and challenging, with continuous glucose monitoring system devices providing a useful tool for diagnosis and treatment evaluation. While EUS-RFA is an emerging non-invasive treatment modality for pancreatic lesions, limitations exist especially when histological confirmation is essential.

Summary: This study evaluated the technical feasibility, safety, and short-term efficacy of multiple-round EUS-RFA with low ablation power for unresectable pancreatic cancer. The results showed that the procedure was successful in all cases with no major adverse events, and some patients experienced reduced lesion sizes or decreased serum CA19-9 levels post-procedure.
