Low-cost biochar adsorbents prepared from date and delonix regia seeds for heavy metal sorption

Dan Bahadur Pal et al.

Summary: The study explored low-cost biochar derived from locally accessible delonix regia seed and date seeds as bio-adsorbents for heavy metal environmental cleaning. Characterization was carried out using various methods, with experimentation and optimization studies utilizing Design-software 6.0.8. Date seeds derived-biochars exhibited higher efficiency in removing arsenic from synthetic wastewater compared to Delonix regia seeds.

Optimization of Hexavalent Chromium Biosorption by Shewanella putrefaciens Using the Box-Behnken Design

Juan Cheng et al.

Summary: The study found that under optimal conditions, Shewanella putrefaciens achieved a maximum Cr(VI) removal efficiency of 85.68%. pH and temperature were significant factors that influenced the biosorption effect. Scanning electron microscopy revealed granular complexes formed on the surfaces of Shewanella putrefaciens after Cr(VI) biosorption, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis indicated the distribution of Cr(VI) was related to specific functional groups on the cell surface.

Application of Box-Behnken design for optimizing parameters of hexavalent chromium removal from aqueous solutions using Fe3O4 loaded on activated carbon prepared from alga: Kinetics and equilibrium study

Shirin Afshin et al.

Summary: In this study, the Response Surface Methodology was utilized to optimize the removal efficiency of Hexavalent Chromium using a synthesized adsorbent. The experimental results showed a suitable correlation between the values obtained by experiments and the values predicted by the quadratic model. The study concluded that the efficiency of Cr (VI) adsorption decreased with increasing pH values, while increasing reaction time and adsorbent dosage led to improved process efficiency.
