Phylogenetics of tobacco rattle virus isolates from potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) in the USA: a multi-gene approach to evolutionary lineage

Lindani Moyo et al.

Summary: TRV, an important soil-borne virus of potato transmitted by nematodes, shows genetic clustering among isolates from different potato-growing regions in the USA, with low genetic diversity among American isolates and less constraint on the 1b gene. Phylogenetic incongruence between RNA1 and RNA2 segments indicates different evolutionary lineages.

Population genetic analysis of lettuce big-vein disease viruses and their vector fungi Olpidium virulentus in Ankara province, Turkey

Filiz Randa Zelyut et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the population genetics of the viruses causing lettuce big-vein disease and their fungal vector, discovering at least two evolutionary lineages of LBVD viruses and a strong negative selection pressure in Ankara isolates. The analysis also revealed that O. virulentus isolates from Ankara and other regions were grouped into five sub-clades with no geographical separation, while Olpidium spp. were shown to be monophyletic with speciation among isolates.

Phylogenetic and diversity analyses of Garlic common latent virus based on the TGB and CP gene sequence

Adyatma Irawan Santosa et al.

Summary: GarCLV exhibits genetic diversity with three distinct clades identified based on the nucleotide and amino acid sequences of the TGB and CP genes. Clade 2 shows the lowest variability and most major amino acid changes are found in the CP gene at its 5' and 3' ends. Neutrality tests suggest that all clades are divergent from each other, with high gene flow observed among them.
