This study proves that using Ti3C2Tx MXene current collector can enhance the performance of sodium-ion batteries by reducing the electrode-collector interface resistance. The NVP electrode with Ti3C2Tx MXene current collector exhibits significantly improved rate capability and cycling performance.
Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are ideal technologies for large-scale energy storage systems because of their abundant resources and low cost. However, Al foil, the current collector of sodium-ion battery, has a great influence on the performance of the battery, but it has rarely been studied. In this paper, we prove that the Ti3C2Tx MXene current collector can make a stronger connection with the electrode, lowering the electrode -collector interface resistance considerably. When compared to Al current collectors in SIBs, the Ti3C2Tx MXene current collector reduces polarization and enhances performance. the sodium vanadium phosphate(NVP) electrode with Ti3C2Tx MXene current collector exhibits significantly enhanced rate capability (81.9 mAh g-1 at 500 mA g-1) and cycling performance (81.5% over 200 cycles at 1C) than Al foil. The results show that Ti3C2Tx MXene current collector has a broad prospect in the application of high power SIB battery.
