Thermal management of electronic components based on new wave bio-inspired structures and nanofluids

Zhibo Tang et al.

Summary: In recent years, the miniaturization of electronic components has led to an increased interest in nanofluids and bionics for heat exchanger heat dissipation. This study investigates the cooling effect and comprehensive performance of Fe3O4-water nanofluids in a bio-inspired cooling system for electronic components. The experiment analyzes the effects of nanofluid concentrations, angles and depths of wave bio-inspired structures, and Reynolds numbers on the cooling performance. The findings suggest that a larger depth of the bio-inspired structure enhances heat dissipation, and a concentration of 0.3% yields the best cooling effect. A performance assessment chart based on exergy efficiency confirms the good cooling performance of the system.

Thermophysical, rheological and electrical properties of mono and hybrid TiB2/B4C nanofluids based on a propylene glycol:water mixture

Javier P. Vallejo et al.

Summary: In this study, mono B4C and TiB2 and hybrid TiB2:B4C nanoadditives were used to design nanofluids for the first time, with B4C mono nanofluid showing the highest improvements in thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity, but also the highest viscosity increases. The hybrid nanofluid displayed intermediate values for most properties between the mono nanofluids, except for dynamic viscosity.

Pareto multi-objective optimization of tandem cold rolling settings for reductions and inter stand tensions using NSGA-II

Zoheir Babajamali et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the multi-objective optimization of tandem cold rolling settings for reductions and inter-stand tensions using NSGA-II and Pareto-optimal front. The study suggests total power consumption and uniform power distribution as objective functions and selects reduction thicknesses and inter-stand tensions as problem decision variables. The paper introduces analytical formulations to determine rolling forces and power and defines the main variables, objective functions, and constraints for the optimization problem. The results show improved performance compared to the initial rolling line settings and propose an optimized rolling schedule with reduced power consumption and more uniform power distribution.

Tribology of enhanced turning using biolubricants: A comparative assessment

Xiaoming Wang et al.

Summary: The tribological behavior of cutting is crucial in determining the production cycle, cost, and quality of parts. Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) based on environmentally friendly biolubricants can modify the contact conditions in cutting zones, but it cannot meet the requirements for machining difficult-to-machine materials. This study comprehensively analyzed the lubrication mechanism and technical performance of enhanced MQL in turning, and conducted a comparative assessment of cutting force, cutting temperature, tool wear, and surface quality under enhanced environmentally friendly lubrication turning. The study provides insights into the mechanism, tribological behavior, and development trend of lubrication in relation to continuous cutting.

Statistical modeling and investigation of thermal characteristics of a new nanofluid containing cerium oxide powder

Behrooz Ruhani et al.

Summary: This paper extracted the thermal conductivity of cerium oxide/ethylene glycol nanofluid for different temperatures and volume fractions of nanoparticles, and predicted it using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and fitting method. The experiments showed an increase in the thermal conductivity ratio of the nanofluid with increasing volume fraction and temperature. It was observed that the rate of increase in thermal conductivity at high temperatures is higher than at low temperatures. The ANN proved to be highly effective in predicting the thermal behavior of the nanofluid.

Summary: In this study, the flow structure and heat transfer characteristics of the novel curved-corrugated channel were numerically investigated using ZnO-water nanofluid and E-shaped baffles. The results showed that the presence of corrugations and baffles enhanced heat transfer by promoting vortex flow and increased turbulence. Channels with baffles outperformed those without baffles in terms of thermal-hydraulic performance, with the best performance achieved at the lowest pitch angle.
