When Shared Autonomous Electric Vehicles Meet Microgrids: Citywide Energy-Mobility Orchestration

Wei Qi et al.

Summary: The researchers developed a crossdisciplinary analytics framework to understand the synergy between citywide mobility and energy systems, focusing on shared autonomous electric vehicles (SAEVs) for improving the self-sufficiency and resilience of urban microgrids. They found that SAEVs can improve microgrid self-sufficiency through spatial electricity transfer and temporal energy transfer.

Ride-Hailing Platforms: Competition and Autonomous Vehicles

Auyon Siddiq et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of ride-hailing platforms obtaining access to autonomous vehicles (AVs) on platform profitability, agent welfare, and social welfare. The results indicate that access to AVs has a structural effect on agent welfare regardless of AV ownership, with welfare decreasing if the AV cost is high. Furthermore, the effect on platform profit and social welfare depends on who owns the AVs. These findings provide guidance for platforms, labor and consumer advocates, and governmental entities in making regulatory and public policy decisions regarding AV access.

Dynamic Vehicle Allocation Policies for Shared Autonomous Electric Fleets

Yuxuan Dong et al.

Summary: In this study, a dynamic vehicle allocation policy is designed by modeling the system as a semi-open queuing network and using a Markov decision process model. Experiments show that the policy is near optimal in small-scale networks and outperforms benchmark policies in large-scale realistic scenarios. An interesting finding is that reserving idle vehicles to wait for future short-distance customer arrivals can be beneficial even when long-distance customers are waiting.

Mobility-Aware Charging Scheduling for Shared On-Demand Electric Vehicle Fleet Using Deep Reinforcement Learning

Yanchang Liang et al.

Summary: This article discusses the joint charging scheduling, order dispatching, and vehicle rebalancing for large-scale shared EV fleet operators, and proposes a solution based on deep reinforcement learning and binary linear programming. By evaluating the state value of EVs using neural networks, the online scheduling model is established and a constrained rebalancing method is introduced to enhance training efficiency. This approach is further validated through simulation experiments using real-world data from Haikou City.
