A Green Method of Extracting and Recovering Flavonoids from Acanthopanax senticosus Using Deep Eutectic Solvents

Xinyu Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the efficiency of different deep eutectic solvents (DES) in extracting flavonoids from Acanthopanax senticosus (AS) was compared. The optimal conditions for extraction were determined using response surface methodology. The results showed that DES composed of glycerol and levulinic acid (1:1) was the most suitable extraction medium, achieving a higher extraction yield compared to traditional ethanol extraction. Additionally, the use of macroporous resin further enhanced the recovery of flavonoids from the extracts.

Phenolic compounds from virgin olive oil obtained by natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES): effect of the extraction and recovery conditions

Elisa Rodriguez-Juan et al.

Summary: Natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) have been shown to efficiently extract phenolic compounds from virgin olive oil (VOO), and this study optimized the extraction yield using Xylitol/Choline chloride (Xyl/ChCl). The highest concentration of phenols was obtained at 40 degrees C for 1 hour with a 1:1 ratio, using XAD-16 resin for recovery. Additional desorption with different ethanol concentrations showed variable recovery rates for different polyphenols.

An efficiency strategy for extraction and recovery of ellagic acid from waste chestnut shell and its biological activity evaluation

Juan-Yan An et al.

Summary: An efficient and green method was established to extract and recover high-valued ellagic acid from waste chestnut shells using choline chloride-based deep eutectic solvents. The method achieved high extraction value of 4.64mg/g and recovery rate of 94.9%, with a purity of 85.6% and strong antioxidant and antibacterial activities exhibited by the recovered ellagic acid. The anti-solvent precipitation method provided higher extraction and recovery efficiency and high-purity ellagic acid simultaneously in one step.
