An AIE-active turn-off fluorescent sensor for highly selective and sensitive detection of Cu2+ions

Xiaoling Niu et al.

Summary: Developing a highly selective and sensitive sensor for Cu2+ ions is of great importance in the fields of chemical, biological, and environmental research. In this study, a novel Cu(2+) ions sensor based on a tetraphenylethylene (TPE) derivative with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) property was designed and synthesized. The sensor demonstrated a sensitive fluorescent turn-off behavior and highly selective responses to Cu(2+) ions, while being unaffected by various interferential cations. Additionally, a visible color change from bright yellow to colorless was observed upon the addition of Cu(2+) ions.

Multi-stimuli responsive fluorescence of amphiphilic AIEgen copolymers for ultrafast, highly sensitive and selective copper ion detection in water

Pham Quoc Nhien et al.

Summary: Novel multi-stimuli responsive fluorescence sensors based on amphiphilic copolymers were synthesized, showing excellent reversible thermo- and pH-responsive fluorescence capabilities and being applied for copper ion detection in water. The significant sensing towards Cu2+ in aqueous solution is attributed to the AIE characteristics of the copolymers.

Recognition of dicarboxylic acids and diphosphonic acids using anthracene-based diamidine: formation of amidinium-carboxylate and amidinium-phosphonate salt bridges in a protic solvent

Takahiro Kusukawa et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the formation of stable 'amidinium-carboxylate' and 'amidinium-phosphonate' salt bridges by anthracene-based diamidine in competition with protic solvents like MeOH. This was confirmed through binding experiments, DOSY NMR, ESI-Mass, titration experiments, and single crystal X-ray analysis. Understanding the structure and properties is important for compounds of this nature.

Fluorogenic Biosensors Constructed via Aggregation-induced Emission Based on Enzyme-catalyzed Coupling Reactions for Detection of Hydrogen Peroxide

Xiaogang Li et al.

Summary: Hydrogen peroxide is a main reactive oxygen by-product in organism metabolism and a common biomarker of oxidative stress. A new AIE probe successfully modifies TPE into TPE-TAF, which can form an intramolecular phenazine structure under the action of an enzyme. This probe shows high specificity and sensitivity for H2O2 with a simple strategy.

Carboxylic acid recognition of a tetraamidine having a tetraphenylethylene unit based on aggregation-induced emission

Takahiro Kusukawa et al.

Summary: A TPE-based tetraamidine (1a) has been designed and synthesized for the recognition of dicarboxylic acids, showing higher selectivity for a,u-dicarboxylic acids 2 in a DMSO solution compared to a TPE-based diamidine. The study also proposes the formation of cyclic and linear aggregate structures and demonstrates that the tetraamidine 1a's fluorescence characteristics are applicable for the detection of carboxylic acids.
