A fluorescent aptasensor for the detection of Aflatoxin B1 by graphene oxide mediated quenching and release of fluorescence

Summary: A sensitive on-site detection method for Aflatoxin B1 using a fluorophore-based aptamer biosensor combined with graphene oxide has been developed. The method relies on the fluorescence release upon the addition of Aflatoxin B1 to a system consisting of a fluorescently modified aptamer and graphene oxide. The assay parameters such as concentration of fluorescent probe, graphene oxide, and incubation time were optimized, and the linear range and detection limit of Aflatoxin B1 were assessed. The developed assay showed promise as a field deployable tool for the screening of aflatoxins and other mycotoxins.

On-off-on fluorescent nanosensing: Materials, detection strategies and recent food applications

Summary: On-off-on fluorescent sensors based on nanomaterials have gained much attention in food analysis due to their high sensitivity, wide detection range, strong anti-interference ability, and flexible design. This review introduces common nanomaterials and elaborates the main detection strategies of on-off-on fluorescent sensors. It also summarizes recent applications of these sensors for trace level detection of various analytes in food. However, the commercial and industrial applications of these sensors are still limited, and future research should focus on developing high-throughput detection techniques and portable or visual fluorescent sensors.
