Sex differences in the symptom presentation of stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Sultana Shajahan et al.

Summary: There are sex differences in the symptom presentation of stroke, with women more commonly experiencing nonfocal symptoms and men more commonly experiencing ataxia and dysarthria. However, the prevalence of focal neurological symptoms is similar for both sexes. Understanding these sex differences and considering the full constellation of presenting symptoms can improve early diagnosis and management in both men and women.
