Facile construction of aggregation-induced emission molecular liquids via Piers-Rubinsztajn reaction for green fluorescent ink

Rong Fu et al.

Summary: In this study, siloxane units were introduced into AIE molecules, and TPE derivatives with siloxane side chains were synthesized. The obtained AIE molecular liquids exhibited unique photophysical properties. Compared with traditional long-chain alkyl molecular liquids, siloxane TPE showed lower viscosity, better fluidity, and temperature responsiveness.

Dynamic Covalent Bond Cross-Linked Luminescent Silicone Elastomer with Self-Healing and Recyclable Properties

Ning Wang et al.

Summary: Two aldehyde-modified tetraphenylene derivatives with different functionality were synthesized and used to prepare elastomers with excellent fluorescence, mechanical properties, thermal stability, self-healing, and recycling properties through dynamic covalent cross-linking. The mechanical properties of the elastomers were influenced by the functionality of the derivatives and the molecular weight of the polymer. The self-healing process was fast and the recycling process could be carried out by solution processing and hot pressing. The tensile properties of the pristine and healed samples were similar.

A spectroscopic probe for hypochlorous acid detection

Ning An et al.

Summary: A spectroscopic probe CMBT was synthesized and characterized. CMBT showed specific recognition for HClO through turn-on blue fluorescence and naked-eye color change. The detection of HClO was successfully achieved in tap and river water samples. In addition, a multi-input molecular logic circuit was constructed.

Orange-Light-Induced Photochemistry Gated by pH and Confined Environments

Daniel Kodura et al.

Summary: This article introduces a novel photochemically active compound, PyPy, which possesses a pH-active moiety to control the reaction pathways. By incorporating PyPy into the design of single-chain nanoparticles, the repulsive forces can be overcome and the halochromic shift can be utilized to induce chemical reactions.

AlCl3-promoted growth of alkylated carbon dots with an enhanced nonlinear optical response

Dandan Lu et al.

Summary: This research proposes a metal-promoted strategy to enhance the nonlinear optical properties of carbon dots (CDs). By doping with aluminum, nitrogen, and chloride, the absorption and emission characteristics of CDs changed, resulting in the demonstration of reverse saturable absorption behavior in a polymer matrix.

A supramolecular dual-donor artificial light-harvesting system with efficient visible light-harvesting capacity

Yi-Xiong Hu et al.

Summary: A dual-donor artificial light-harvesting system was efficiently constructed through hierarchical self-assembly approaches involving metal-ligand coordination interactions, host-guest interactions, and hydrophobic interactions, demonstrating higher energy transfer efficiency and antenna effects compared to a model single-donor artificial LHS. This research provides an efficient strategy for constructing artificial LHSs with high energy transfer efficiency and antenna effects.

Recent advances in luminescent materials for super-resolution imaging via stimulated emission depletion nanoscopy

Yanzi Xu et al.

Summary: Recent progress on STED fluorophores for super-resolution imaging is outlined, including inorganic fluorophores, fluorescent proteins, organic luminescent materials, aggregation-induced emission (AIE) luminogens, and fluorescent nanoparticles. Characteristics of these aforementioned STED fluorophores are also included and compared to provide a deep understanding of the relationship between the properties in luminescent materials and their performance in STED imaging.
