Effect of inner layer structures of weft-knitted spacer fabrics on thermal insulation and air permeability

Vaida Buzaite et al.

Summary: The research found that increasing the thickness and tightness of the inner layer of weft-knitted spacer fabric has uneven effects on thermal insulation and air permeability. While similar thermal insulation can be achieved by increasing the thickness and tightness of the inner layer, significantly higher air permeability is also observed.

Effect of Silicone Inlaid Materials on Reinforcing Compressive Strength of Weft-Knitted Spacer Fabric for Cushioning Applications

Annie Yu et al.

Summary: Spacer fabrics are commonly used as cushioning materials, and can be reinforced by inlaying different types of silicone-based elastic tubes to improve compression properties. The presence of inlaid tubes does not affect the compression behavior of spacer fabrics at an initial compressive strain of 10%. The Young's modulus of the inlaid tubes correlates with fabric compression. Among different samples, spacer fabrics inlaid with highly elastic silicone foam tubes can absorb more compression energy, while those inlaid with silicone tubes of higher tensile strength have higher compressive stiffness.

MOISTURE AND THERMAL TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF DIFFERENT POLYESTER WARP-KNITTED SPACER FABRIC FOR PROTECTIVE APPLICATION

Qing Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the heat and mass transfer properties of polyester warp-knitted spacer fabrics, finding that water vapor permeability decreased with increasing volume density but water absorption ratio increased. Decreasing thickness and increasing volume density improved water vapor permeability. Additionally, spacer fabrics with mesh near the skin and plain structure away from the skin promoted water vapor and air transmission.
