Single-atomic-Co cocatalyst on (040) facet of BiVO4 toward efficient photoelectrochemical water splitting

Yucong Miao et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly exposed (040) facet BiVO4 photoanode was prepared by a seed assisted hydrothermal method to improve charge transfer. Cobalt single atoms stabilized in N-doped carbon nanosheet were modified on the BiVO4 (040) to enhance water oxidation efficiency. The modified photoanode showed a 2.2 times higher photo-current density and nearly 100% charge injection efficiency compared to pristine BiVO4 (040). The study suggests a promising strategy for fabricating composite photoanodes for solar energy conversion leveraging facet engineering matched with single-atomic-catalyst.

ZnNi(NA) (NA= Nicotinic acid) bimetallic mesoporous MOFs as a sensing platform for ethanol, formaldehyde and ammonia at room temperature

A. Jagan Mohan Reddy et al.

Summary: A novel bimetallic ZnNi(NA) MOF nanomaterials were synthesized and used for the detection of NH3, HCHO and C2H5OH vapours. The characterization techniques revealed that the bimetallic MOFs had smaller particle sizes and larger surface areas compared to monometallic MOFs. Among them, ZnNi(NA)-1:1 nanomaterial exhibited the best sensing performance towards ammonia.

Dramatically enhanced solar-driven water splitting of BiVO4 photoanode via strengthening hole transfer and light harvesting by co-modification of CQDs and ultrathin beta-FeOOH layers

Tingsheng Zhou et al.

Summary: An excellent CQDs/FeOOH/BiVO4 photoanode was designed to address the issues of severe bulk and surface charge recombination, sluggish OER kinetics, and narrow visible light harvesting in BiVO4. The photoanode showed dramatically enhanced photocurrent and IPCE, attributed to the synergistic catalysis of CQDs and FeOOH, suppression of bulk charge recombination by CQDs/BiVO4 heterojunction, and increased light harvesting by CQDs.
