Reconfigurable design of a passive locomotion closed-chain multi-legged platform for terrain adaptability

Chaoran Wei et al.

Summary: This study proposes a reconfigurable passive locomotion closed-chain platform (RPCP) to enhance the adaptability of the platform to uneven terrain. Through adjustable trajectory parameters and reconfigurable design, the platform is able to walk on slippery or soft ground, and climb obstacles such as slopes and vertical walls using vector thrust.

Adaptive Locomotion Control of a Hexapod Robot via Bio-Inspired Learning

Wenjuan Ouyang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an adaptive locomotion control approach for a hexapod robot using a 3D two-layer artificial CPG network and reinforcement learning to adjust parameters for adaptive control. The effectiveness of the method is verified through simulations and experiments.

A framework for dynamic modeling of legged modular miniature robots with soft backbones

Nima Mahkam et al.

Summary: This study models the dynamics of n legged modular miniature robots with a soft body using the Newton-Euler formulation and contact parameters. The research findings show that different types of backbones affect the motion constraints between modules, which have a significant impact on robot velocity and locomotion.

NeuroVis: Real-Time Neural Information Measurement and Visualization of Embodied Neural Systems

Arthicha Srisuchinnawong et al.

Summary: Understanding real-time dynamical mechanisms of neural systems remains a significant issue due to the complex nature of neural spatial-temporal ingredients. Current visualization tools fail to monitor and visualize all neural ingredients online. Introducing NeuroVis as a method/tool for measuring and visualizing temporal neural activities can enhance understanding of neural processes, boost neural technology development, and increase user trust.

Locomotion Control With Frequency and Motor Pattern Adaptations

Mathias Thor et al.

Summary: Existing adaptive locomotion control mechanisms for legged robots are typically focused on individual types of adaptation and are seldom combined. This work introduces a CPG-based locomotion controller integrating both frequency and motor pattern adaptation mechanisms, resulting in high energy efficiency and precision in locomotion. The combination of frequency and motor pattern mechanisms shows promise for further studies on adaptive locomotion control.
