Understanding the mechanism for promoting azurite sulfurization with ammonium sulfate

Jinpeng Cai et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role of ammonium sulfate ((NH4)(2)SO4) in the sulfurization flotation of azurite. The results show that (NH4)(2)SO4 improves the flotation recovery of azurite and promotes the formation of copper sulfide products, leading to enhanced hydrophobicity of the azurite surface.

Flotation separation of chalcopyrite from galena using locust bean gum as a selective and eco-friendly depressant

Yongchao Miao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of locust bean gum (LBG) as a selective flotation agent for separating chalcopyrite from galena in a low-alkaline environment. The results show that the addition of LBG significantly decreases the recovery of galena while maintaining a high recovery rate for chalcopyrite. Various analyses suggest that the interaction mechanism between LBG and galena involves hydrogen bonding between the mineral surface and the -OH groups from LBG polymer.

Enhanced collection of chalcopyrite by styrene-butyl acrylate polymer nanospheres in the presence of serpentine

Bing Yang et al.

Summary: Chalcopyrite and serpentine tend to aggregate under alkaline and weak acid conditions, reducing the floatability of chalcopyrite. To solve this issue, St-Ba nanospheres were prepared and used as collector, effectively eliminating the inhibition of serpentine on chalcopyrite and increasing the recovery rate.

Effect of pre-oxidation on galena in the flotation separation of chalcopyrite from galena with calcium lignosulfonate as depressant

Chao Su et al.

Summary: This study achieved efficient separation of chalcopyrite from galena in Cu-Pb sulfide minerals by pre-oxidation using sodium persulfate (Na2S2O8). The results showed that the pre-oxidation by Na2S2O8 could enhance the depression performance of calcium lignosulfonate (CLS) on galena. The mechanism of Na2S2O8 to CLS adsorption onto the galena surface was revealed, and the findings were supported by solution chemistry calculation.

Interaction mechanism of copper ions with the surface of sulfidized malachite and its response to flotation

Han Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction mechanism of copper ions with the surface of sulfidized malachite and its effect on flotation. The results showed that an appropriate concentration of copper ions enhanced the hydrophobicity and recovery of sulfidized malachite, while high concentration treatment decreased them. Copper ion modification reduced collector consumption and improved the reaction activity and sulfidization product activity of the mineral surface. However, high copper-ion concentration led to the formation of copper hydroxide complexes and decreased the mineral surface reaction activity.

A novel synthetic polymer depressant for the flotation separation of chalcopyrite and galena and insights into its interfacial adsorption mechanism

Xingrong Zhang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that DTC-PAA is an effective galena depressant, aiding in the flotation separation from chalcopyrite when using IPETC as the collector. DTC-PAA prevented the adsorption of IPETC collector on galena surface, but could not prevent it from adsorbing on chalcopyrite surface.

Investigations on the selective depression of fenugreek gum towards galena and its role in chalcopyrite-galena flotation separation

Dezhi Liu et al.

Summary: The novel organic fenugreek gum (FG) demonstrated a strong depression effect towards galena in the flotation separation of chalcopyrite from galena. It selectively depressed galena flotation, resulting in a high-grade and high-recovery CuFeS2 concentrate. The adsorption of FG on galena surface was found to be physical, driven mainly by hydrogen bonding, suggesting a potential for FG to be a selective depressant for separating chalcopyrite from galena.
