An aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active fluorescent chemodosimeter for selective sensing of hypochlorite in water and solid state: Endogenous detection of hypochlorite in live cells

Sandip Kumar Samanta et al.

Summary: A water-soluble AIE-active fluorescent molecule was synthesized for rapid and selective detection of hypochlorite, showing high sensitivity and selectivity. Detection of ClO- was achieved by oxidizing N-alkylpyridinium to N-methyl-2-pyridone. This probe was also effective for real-time detection of ClO- in water samples and fetal bovine serum.

Highly selective turn-on fluorescent probe for hypochlorite and viscosity detection

Lijuan Liang et al.

Summary: Water-soluble and fast-responsive fluorescent probes PTZ-TPP and PTZ-MP based on phenothiazine moiety were developed for accurate analysis and detection of changes in HOCl and viscosity, with low detection limits. Furthermore, PTZ-MP probe can also be used for viscosity detection, and is expected to be utilized for simultaneous determination of intracellular HOCl and viscosity.

Ratiometric fluorescent detection of hypochlorite in aqueous solution and living cells using an ionic probe with aggregation-induced emission feature

Yiyang Yuan et al.

Summary: In this study, an ionic fluorescent probe named TPY with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) feature was designed and synthesized for the detection of hypochlorite in aqueous solution and living organisms. The results showed that TPY exhibited excellent selectivity, sensitivity, and fast response time towards hypochlorite, potentially making it a useful tool for sensor applications in both aqueous solution and living organisms.

Turn-on fluorescent probe for sensing exogenous and endogenous hypochlorous acid in living cells, zebrafishes and mice

Yabing Gan et al.

Summary: A novel fluorescent probe HN-ClO was developed for monitoring HOCl, showing good water-solubility, photostability, fluorescence quantum yield, and large Stokes shift with excellent selectivity and high sensitivity. This probe not only performed well in vitro but also successfully monitored endogenous and exogenous HOCl in living cells, zebrafishes, and mice, providing potential for further exploration of the physiological and pathological roles of hypochlorous acid in biological systems.
