Thermal Conductivity Gas Sensor with Enhanced Flow-Rate Independence

Summary: With the rapid development of the internet of things, there is a growing demand for gas monitoring in various fields. Metal oxide semiconductors (MOSs) gas sensors based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology have achieved significant developments, especially in mainland China. These sensors have been successfully applied for the detection of various gases by utilizing MEMS micro-hotplate and wafer-scale deposition methods. Recent advancements in sensing performance and intelligent systems have been made through the use of different MOS nano-structures and machine learning algorithms.

A thermal conductivity sensor based on mixed carbon material modification for hydrogen detection

Summary: A new design method for thermal conductivity sensors was proposed, in which a graphene-composite carbon nanotube mixed carbon material was used as a carrier. The sensor showed high sensitivity and stability, with improved detection accuracy and response time. The research results have great application prospects.

Extremely simple structure hydrogen gas sensor based on single metallic thin-wire under sweep heating

Summary: A sweep heating method using a single metallic thin-wire is proposed for thermal conductivity detector (TCD)-based gas sensors. The sensor can detect hydrogen gas concentration based on the P-R diagram, which represents the change in thermal conductivity of the surrounding gas. The sensor response is stable and the temperature profile matches well with the calculated values. The proposed sensor is cost-effective and suitable for practical applications in harsh environments.

Thermal conductivity detector (TCD)-type gas sensor based on a batch-fabricated 1D nanoheater for ultra-low power consumption

Summary: In this study, an ultralow-power thermal conductivity detector (TCD) was developed using cost-effective technology. The TCD showed high sensitivity and ultrafast response/recovery by optimizing the nanoheater's aspect ratio and employing a suspended architecture. The sensor exhibited a linear gas response and reduced power consumption through pulse-width modulation.

DIFFERENTIAL THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY CO2 SENSOR

Summary: This paper introduces a novel MEMS technology for CO2 detection based on differential thermal conductivity, which induces different levels of gas interaction by asymmetric temperature distribution. The best resistor combination for CO2 concentration detection and a detection resolution of <100 ppm are investigated. This device shows potential for low-cost, low-power, high-sensitivity, scalable gas detection.
