SASMOTE: A Self-Attention Oversampling Method for Imbalanced CSI Fingerprints in Indoor Positioning Systems

Ankang Liu et al.

Summary: WiFi localization based on channel state information (CSI) fingerprints is a popular method for indoor positioning. In this study, a deep learning-based oversampling method called SASMOTE is proposed to address the issue of data imbalance during the construction of the CSI fingerprint database. The method involves compressing the data dimensionality and extracting rich features using a self-attention encoder-decoder, as well as oversampling minority class data using the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE). Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the SASMOTE method in solving the data imbalance problem and the excellent performance of the improved location model, 1D-MobileNet, on the balanced fingerprint database.
