Insulating and Robust Ceramic Nanorod Aerogels with High-Temperature Resistance over 1400 °C

Enshuang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel approach to fabricate ceramic nanorod aerogels (CNRAs) with hierarchically macroporous and mesoporous structures by assembling Al2O3 nanorods and SiO2 nanoparticles. The high-temperature annealing treatment of CNRAs enhances mechanical strength and improves thermal tolerance, resulting in aerogels with exceptional heat resistance, low thermal conductivity, high compressive strength, and low density for potential applications in extreme environments.
