Noncritical phasematching behavior in thin-film lithium niobate frequency converters

Summary: This study investigates the noncritical phasematching behavior in thin-film, periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguides. It is found that although the sensitivity of phasematching to waveguide thickness can be minimized, it cannot be completely eliminated. Limits on acceptable thickness variation are estimated, and the scaling with device length for second-harmonic generation and sum-frequency generation in thin-film PPLN frequency converters is discussed.

Highly efficient generation of narrowband terahertz radiation driven by a two-spectral-line laser in PPLN

Tunable single-mode laser on thin film lithium niobate

In this study, an integrated tunable whispering gallery single-mode laser (WGSML) was achieved by utilizing a coupled microdisk and microring on LNOI. The output power of the WGSML can be increased by adjusting the temperature, and the central wavelength can be altered within a certain range. Additionally, different wavelengths of WGSMLs were obtained by changing the coupling gap width between the microdisk and microring, showing promise for future research in obtaining more precise adjustable WGSMLs using the electro-optic effect of LNOI.
