A COMMON FINDING IN FOVEAL-SPARING EXTENSIVE MACULAR ATROPHY WITH PSEUDODRUSEN IMPLICATES BASAL LAMINAR DEPOSITS

S. E. R. E. N. A. FRAGIOTTA et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the structural and clinical changes preceding diffuse macular atrophy in extensive macular atrophy with pseudodrusen (EMAP) and their progression towards atrophic changes. The results revealed that prior to EMAP stage, there were pseudodrusen-like deposits, while during the EMAP stage, foveal sparing was observed. These findings provide insights into the development of these eye diseases.

OCT Signs of Early Atrophy in Age-Related Macular Degeneration: Interreader Agreement Classification of Atrophy Meetings Report 6

Zhichao Wu et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to determine the interreader agreement for incomplete retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and outer retinal atrophy (iRORA) and complete RPE and outer retinal atrophy (cRORA) and their related features in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The results showed that most features had substantial or better interreader agreement and the consistency of early atrophy could be improved by optimizing the combination of features.

Guidelines for Imaging the Choriocapillaris Using OCT Angiography

Zhongdi Chu et al.

Summary: Accurate visualization and quantification of choriocapillaris (CC) parameters are essential for OCTA analysis. Physiologically sound CC slabs and appropriate algorithms are crucial for reliable measurements. Researchers should tailor their strategies based on instrument specifications and scan patterns to achieve accurate results.

Progression of Atrophy and Visual Outcomes in Extensive Macular Atrophy with Pseudodrusen-like Appearance

Francesco Romano et al.

Summary: The study reported data on visual outcomes and RPE atrophy progression rate in patients with extensive macular atrophy. Results showed that smaller CI and iso-autofluorescent lesion borders were associated with faster disease progression. Patients with early foveal involvement had worse visual outcomes.
