Detailed analysis on the reflection component for the black hole candidate MAXI J1348-630

Nan Jia et al.

Summary: In this study, the black hole candidate MAXI J1348-630 was analyzed using archived data from NuSTAR. The complete outburst evolution of the source from hard state to soft state and back was observed, with an intermediate state found during the transition. The spin parameter and inclination of the accretion disc were determined, as well as the significant truncation of the disc in the hard state.

Peculiar Disk Behaviors of the Black Hole Candidate MAXI J1348-630 in the Hard State Observed by Insight-HXMT and Swift

W. Zhang et al.

Summary: We present a spectral study of the black hole candidate MAXI J1348-630 during its 2019 outburst, which reveals anomalous behavior in the hard rise stage. The spectra can be well fitted with power-law plus disk-blackbody components, but the canonical relation between disk luminosity and peak color temperature is inconsistent with the observed data. To explain these anomalies, we propose a larger hardening factor for the inner-disk emission at the beginning of the outburst.

vKompth: a variable Comptonization model for low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations in black hole X-ray binaries

Candela Bellavita et al.

Summary: This article presents a time-dependent Comptonization model to fit the energy-dependent rms-amplitude and phase-lag spectra of low-frequency QPOs in BH LMXBs. Comparing with a model using a blackbody seed-photons source, the proposed model shows better fits in explaining the properties of low-frequency QPOs in BH LMXBs.

Transitions and Origin of the Type-B Quasi-periodic Oscillations in the Black Hole X-Ray Binary MAXI J1348-630

H. X. Liu et al.

Summary: This study provides a detailed analysis of the transitions of type-B quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) in the black hole transient source MAXI J1348-630. The results suggest that type-B QPOs may originate from jet precession and the transitions could indicate instability of the disk-jet structure. Additionally, the study observes transitions from type-B to type-C QPOs, indicating a possible connection between stronger jets or the corona and type-C QPOs.

A giant X-ray dust scattering ring discovered with SRG/eROSITA around the black hole transient MAXI J1348-630

G. Lamer et al.

Summary: A giant dust scattering ring around the Black Hole transient MAXI J1348-630 was discovered during the first X-ray all-sky survey with SRG/eROSITA. The distance of MAXI J1348-630 was measured to be 3390 pc, making it one of the black hole transients with the most accurately determined distances. This led to a revised mass estimate for the black hole and highlighted the importance of dust scattering halos in making precise distance measurements towards X-ray sources.

A two-component Comptonization model for the type-B QPO in MAXI J1348-630

Federico Garcia et al.

Summary: Spectral-timing analysis of X-ray variability in black hole binaries is a powerful tool to study accretion/ejection flows. Type-B QPOs in the soft-intermediate state are linked to emission from relativistic jets. By studying the spectral-timing properties of MAXI J1348-630, a variable-Comptonization model successfully explains the radiative properties of the QPO.

The black hole transient MAXI J1348-630: evolution of the compact and transient jets during its 2019/2020 outburst

F. Carotenuto et al.

Summary: The study presents a 14-month radio and X-ray monitoring campaign of the 2019/2020 outburst of the new black hole X-ray binary, MAXI J1348-630. The evolution of compact and transient jets were detected and tracked during the outburst, with the observation of multiple re-flare events and the launch of two single-sided ejecta with high proper motion. The characteristics of the ejecta, including inclination, speed, and expansion, provided insights into the environment surrounding the black hole, suggesting a possible location inside a low-density cavity in the interstellar medium.

NuSTAR monitoring of MAXI J1348-630: evidence of high density disc reflection

Sudip Chakraborty et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the broad-band spectral of all six NuSTAR observations of MAXI J1348-630 during its first outburst in 2019, finding that a simple model scheme was inadequate and exploring the possibility of high-density disc reflection using two different sets of models. The REFLIONX-based high-density disc reflection models lowered the iron abundance to around the solar value, with evidence of high-velocity outflow. Consistency in best-fitting parameters for different epochs and statistical significance of the model indicated the presence of high-density disc reflection in MAXI J1348-630.

NICER uncovers the transient nature of the type-B quasi-periodic oscillation in the black hole candidate MAXI J1348-630

L. Zhang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the generation of type-B QPO is associated with a redistribution of accretion power between the disc and Comptonized emission, with more power dissipated into the radiative region when the type-B QPO appears. Additionally, changes in radiative flux were observed in the spectral analysis.

A two-component Comptonization model for the type-B QPO in MAXI J1348-630

Federico Garcia et al.

Summary: The spectral-timing analysis of X-ray fast variability in black hole binaries reveals important properties of the accretion/ejection flows. The type-B QPO observed in the soft-intermediate state is linked to emission from the relativistic jet, as shown in MAXI J1348-630 using a variable-Comptonization model. This study demonstrates that two physically connected Comptonization regions can successfully explain the radiative properties of the QPO.
