Bovine oocyte exposure to perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS) induces phenotypic, transcriptomic, and DNA methylation changes in resulting embryos in vitro

Ida Hallberg et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS) on ovarian function during in vitro maturation (IVM). The results showed that PFHxS exposure during IVM affected oocyte developmental competence and led to altered morphology and molecular changes in the resulting embryos.

A pilot investigation of couple-level phthalates exposure and in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes

Thoin F. Begum et al.

Summary: The study shows that higher levels of MBP in women and MEHP in men are associated with a lower likelihood of pregnancy, while higher levels of MHxP in both women and men are associated with a lower likelihood of live birth. The results suggest that phthalate exposure may impact IVF outcomes and emphasize the importance of including male partners in investigating the effects of phthalate exposure on IVF. Further research is needed to definitively assess the risks.

Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) exposure of bovine oocytes affects early embryonic development at human-relevant levels in an in vitro model

Ida Hallberg et al.

Summary: Exposure to PFOS during oocyte maturation in cows resulted in delayed embryo development, altered gene expression and DNA methylation patterns, which may impact female fertility. The effects were more pronounced at higher exposure concentrations.

Occupational Exposures to Phthalates among Black and Latina US Hairdressers Serving an Ethnically Diverse Clientele: A Pilot Study

Meleah D. Boyle et al.

Summary: This study found that hairdressers had higher concentrations of phthalate metabolites compared to office workers, with those providing select services and using specific products having even higher concentrations. Interestingly, hairdressers providing natural services had lower concentrations of phthalate metabolites.
